Software startup CTO
Managed an offshore development team and US analytic resources for a Big Data cloud analytics startup. Worked with MIT professors from Sloan and the Computer Science Department to turn their decades of consulting practice into a cloud software solution. Started from blue sky product visioning sessions through initial engagements, product launch and multiple product releases. Development was fully customer-funded, starting with smaller customers; currently serving Fortune 50 customers. Designed industry-specific analytics for Distribution, Retail, Discrete Manufacturing, Process Manufacturing and Transportation verticals.

Established and led the Project Management Office (PMO) for the on-time, on-budget delivery of a $15M technology overhaul of the US division of a global services firm. Selected implementation partners, managed budget, managed scope, and led internal client resources. Scope included Job Cost Accounting, AP/AR/GL, Payroll, Work Orders, Procurement, and Business Intelligence. The system was chosen as the next generation ERP for the overseas corporate parent and the remaining 40+ countries of operation

For Houston-based Gallery Furniture, the nation’s top performing furniture retailer in sales and profit per square foot, managed a technology refresh of all internal systems including: Salesforce.com implementation, with rollout of tablets to all floor sales and delivery staff replacing register order entry and providing a real-time balanced scorecard for sales staff; Salesforce.com desktop service desk module; relocation of cloud data center; new firewall and related security software and appliances; new WIFI network; ERP upgrade and outsourcing of store IT support services.

For Autopart International, a leading B2B supplier of parts to the automotive aftermarket, acquired by Advance Auto Parts: established centers of excellence for parts information (item master, cataloging, product questions); and pricing. Developed sales and margin reporting for category managers. Established cross functional teams across sales, operations and category management that reduced returns by 1/3 and drove a 100 basis point improvement in operating margin.
